Mixed Reviews

hey guys! welcome to my reading blog. I'm very new (and extremely slow) at this blogging thing. So let me go over my reading habits and what I like. Getting to know you thing.
I love reading. I used to get in trouble for reading in class when I was younger. As I grew older I kinda stopped. I read here and there but not as much as I would like. Yikes. This blog will hopefully get me back into that.
I like reading anything. Or I liked reading anything until I got into AP English. They roasted my life and told me the Hunger Games wasn't of "literary merit." I still like it though. Here's the problem I have with reading for school: All the books suck. Sometimes. It physically pains me to read for school unless I pick out the book. I like doing that so much better. Then they make you analyze and make notes and it sucks the fun out of reading.
The books i read are mostly young adult nonfiction. But I like other genres too. Just anything I find interesting at that time. Now I have to get into more complex books. we'll see how that goes.

  1. Hi Janai, I feel the same exact way about how school books suck ! They are most of the time really boring and I always find myself completely lost. I wish we were able to read books more "juicy", not something that puts me to sleep and has me reading over the same paragraph a million times because I don't get it. Also I feel like I'm so terrible when it comes to analyzing books. I'll read the book and be able to explain it but then when it comes to going deeper, I totally freeze. Anyway I really like your background and I'm just now saying a lot of random things so I'm going to go lol but I hope we have a good year as group members.

  3. Hey Janai, this post is so honest and hilarious, I feel as if I could really get a sense of who you are through it, which is wonderful! I agree, a majority of the time, school books suck and one simply cannot fully enjoy, write, analyze, all that good stuff about a book that merely pained them. It's almost as if we all stop enjoying reading as we continue to grow? Why is that? *Class discussion, Mrs. Smith?* Anyways, we share the same goal: hoping the blog will bring back our love for reading. I'm really looking forward to having you as a group member and praying this blog jumps our love for reading.

  4. I FEEEEEELLLL UUUU GIIIRRRLLLL. ON ALL LEVELS INCLUDING SPIRITUAL I CAN FEEL IT IN THE AIR. anyway, im too lazy for grammar, so here comes a barrage/blitzkrieg/kamikaze of horrendous english. i love the hunger games lol. why cant the general population choose whats of literary merit? i honestly think karlas green eggs and ham is at the top of list of works of literary merit. i love your blog though! youre so honest and just expressing yourself. no one else can do you other than you.so keep doing you. maybe we can all just read dr seuss and petition college board to have this genius on the exams.
